| The Union of Agricultural Co-operatives of Farsala is a union organization of 2nd degree, was founded in 1930 and is one of the oldest union of Agricultural Associations
in Greece.
The Union consists of 60 linear associations in the region of Farsala and of course, 7.000 farmers - members.
It operates in Farsala as a legal private entity under the law 2169/93 "about Agricultural Co-operatives".
Our Union activates in the following sectors:
- Cotton: The region of Farsala is, traditionally, a region of Greece where cotton has been cultivated since prewar period.
In 1972 the Union entered the industry of ginning and it continues today with 2 ginning houses of a 500ton/24h efficiency in Dendrakia Farsalon.
In average, the annual cotton elaboration comes up to 20-25.000tons.
In the same facilities a modern of cotton is situated that functions since 1994 and can work out 50 tons/24h of cotton.
- Compound provisions: Our union produces excellent quality provisions in sack packages in its factory
situated in R.S. of Farsala which has been functioning since 1970 both in floury and pelets form. The annual
production and consumption sums up to about approximately 5 or 6 thousand tons.
- Forage: In the modern kiln of corn with SILOS of 6.000 ton capacity situted in Lofos Farsalon,
quantities of cultivated corn are stored every year, a significant amount of which is used in the forage industry
while the rest is disposed in the market.
- Cereals: Our Union possesses storehouses of a 50.000ton capacity where high quality amounts
of wheat are stored and traded.
- Our Union operates a modern super market in the ground floor of our central offices in Farsala
as well as stores of agricultural implements and spare parts which meet the farmers' demand.
- As far as it concerns the agricultural supplies (fertilizers, agricultural pesticides, seeds), there is a
a full thoroughness of the farmers' needs.
- In the end, complete accounting, administrative and geotechnical support is provided to the linear associations that
comprise the Union.
